Meet Heath and Hunter Henry: Twin sons of a retired Air Force Senior Master Sergeant, Heath and Hunter attend Mercer University together. They both major in Mechanical Engineering and share many of the same goals.

To help realize these educational goals, each was awarded a $3,000 Lockheed Martin/ThanksUSA scholarship for the 2018-2019 academic year.

Currently in his second year of undergraduate studies, Heath Henry plans to pursue a graduate degree, earn a Principles and Practice of Engineering license, and become a community leader. He maintains a 3.94 GPA and has been inducted into the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society and the National Society of Leadership & Success.

He works as a Calculus Preceptor and plans to complete a mechanical engineering internship at Robins Air Force Base next summer. In addition to his studies, Heath volunteers with the Houston County Habitat for Humanity and enjoys playing soccer on the Mercer Men’s Club team.

"Attending Mercer University is something I do not take for granted. I once dreamed of attending Mercer after I first stepped foot on campus at nine years old. The cost of a private university can become overwhelming but, with support from organizations like ThanksUSA and Lockheed Martin, dreams like mine are coming true! It’s a challenging school but being a Mercer Bear is very rewarding and having organizations like yours in my corner is very gratifying."

"Thank you for supporting military families like mine and our futures in education. I am very thankful for this award and appreciate what your organizations do for dreamers like me!"

Much like his brother, Hunter Henry also plans to earn a Masters degree and Principles and Practice of Engineering license. Ultimately, he plans to work as an engineer or an aerospace contractor in the state of Georgia. Hunter is a student of the Mercer University School of Engineering Honors Program with a perfect GPA, has been inducted into the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society and the National Society of Leadership & Success, and serves as a student Preceptor for Calculus I and Calculus II.

Hunter works part-time as a Security Specialist at Robins Air Force Base with his brother. He also volunteers with Houston County Habitat for Humanity and plays Mercer Men’s Club and intramural soccer.

“I would like to thank ThanksUSA and Lockheed Martin for supporting me in my educational goals. Without sponsors and their academic scholarships, I would not be able to attend Mercer University or pursue my goals in becoming an Engineer. I cannot thank you enough for your amazing support!”
