Marine Corps dependent Bethany Flournoy was awarded a $3,000 Berkeley Hills Country Club/ThanksUSA scholarship to continue Nursing studies at Georgia College & State University. An ambitious student, Bethany completed a number of her prerequisite courses at Gordon State College while still in high school. “I have always held high expectations of myself and this will not stop as I continue my education.” |
Bethany’s ultimate goal is to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at a children’s hospital. “By working for such an amazing healthcare facility, I will be able to give back to the community while healing sick and injured children. I aspire to help children regardless of their socio-economic circumstances. A life is a life, and a child’s life is the life of our future.” Bethany is already impacting the lives of local children through Communities in Schools and Georgia College Miracle. She has been inducted into the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, serves as a BRAVE Safe Sister Representative, and is a member of the Georgia College Association of Nursing Students and the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.
"A gracious thank you to the donors who make it possible for me, along with other ThanksUSA scholarship recipients, to attend college without the guilt of putting our families in debt. I am able to focus more on the most important aspects of school and life -- learning and giving back. I hope to be able to help struggling college students from a military background achieve their goals just as your gracious scholarship has done for me. Thank you again, for not only investing in my future, but also the futures of those lives I will save once I am a pediatric nurse." |
