Erin Langley has received Blavatnik Family Foundation/ThanksUSA scholarships totaling $6,000 to pursue an undergraduate degree at Arkansas State University. An Air Force dependent, Erin majors in Biologic Sciences with a minor in Animal Science. This past summer, Erin completed a 10-week summer internship at the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere in Nashville, Tennessee. “I worked with the behavioral husbandry department in the care of all types of exotic animals and participated in the education of the public through shows, encounters, and outreach.” |
She is currently employed at the Arkansas Biosciences Institute as an undergraduate researcher. Just prior to graduating in May 2017, Erin will participate in a study-abroad in Italy where she will learn about the Slow Food Movement and the art and literature of Italy. To complement her studies and support fellow students, Erin serves as President of the A-State Honors College Association. She serves on several A-State boards including the United Way, American Red Cross, and Student Advisory Council. “Thank you so very much for your generosity. Because of the Blavatnik Family Foundation/ThanksUSA scholarship, I am one step closer to fulfilling the dream of becoming a veterinarian!” She adds: “Growing up, I never truly understood the value of the military community, but as I have grown older I have realized how fortunate I am. It is because of my background that I was made eligible for this scholarship, and it is because of you that I am now able to pursue my dreams. Thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart. I won't let you down!” |
