Cecilia Person met her Marine Corps husband while completing service in the Peace Corps. Currently stationed in Yuma, Arizona, Cecilia is using her $3,000 Bruce & Suzie Kovner/ThanksUSA scholarship to continue a Nursing major at Arizona Western College. Cecilia will continue her academics with the ultimate goal of becoming a nurse practitioner. |
To complement her studies, Cecilia has joined the Student Nurse Association. She received an award for academic excellence from the Officer Spouses’ Club and has been hired as a Nurse’s Assistant at a local hospital. Each member of the Person family demonstrates a strong commitment to service. Even Rottweiler Zandry is training to become a Therapy Dog for Pet Partners, an organization that brings the healing affects of animals to area hospitals. |
“Your support and contribution to my education will not only have a positive effect on my life, but for my family as well. Not only does this scholarship reduce the financial burden of school, but it will also extend throughout a lifetime as I advance in my career from a registered nurse to a nurse practitioner. Thank you so much.”
ThanksUSA will continue to accept scholarship applications from students like Cecilia through May 15th for the 2017-2018 academic year. ThanksUSA receives thousands of scholarship applications each year from deserving military spouses and dependent children...your financial contribution is so important that the Kovner Foundation is matching funds through June 30th!
