Air Force dependent Lauren Youngson was awarded a $3,000 Bruce & Suzie Kovner/ThanksUSA scholarship to continue undergraduate studies at the University of Florida. Lauren majors in Accounting with a minor in Mass Communications. Her ultimate goal is to earn CPA certification and become a forensic accountant. “This career will allow me to use my passion for math to contribute to the welfare of society and the overall ethics of the business industry.” |
To complement her studies, Lauren is a member of the Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity, Florida Women in Business, and the Florida Leadership Academy. As a Warrington Welcome student, Lauren and her teammates won the 2014 Warrington Welcome Ethics Case Competition. |
Lauren also dedicates time to her community. She has enjoyed volunteering with Shands Children's Hospital and Bread of the Mighty Food Bank. Most recently, she has become involved with Love Your Melon, an organization that sells apparel to raise funds and awareness for pediatric cancer. “Thank you for making such a generous contribution towards my education.The Bruce & Suzie Kovner/ThanksUSA scholarship really made a difference in my college year.
