Thanks to the generous sponsorship of John (NMN) Coffey and USA Funds, Marine Corps dependent Patrick Hernandez received consecutive ThanksUSA scholarships totaling $6,000 to pursue undergraduate studies at Indiana University at Bloomington. Patrick graduated on May 9th, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies and Spanish. |
While at IU, Patrick built an impressive academic resume. He participated in two study-abroad programs, was inducted into the International Studies Honor Society, demonstrated leadership as a Hudson and Holland Scholar, received numerous Institutional and Departmental honors, and was one of the 2015 recipients of IU’s prestigious Kate Hevner Mueller Outstanding Senior Recognition Award. Though dedicated to his studies, Patrick also played Men’s Club Volleyball and volunteered as a coach, mentor, and tutor. He spent many summer months serving as a camp counselor and has recently begun a promising career with an international residential camp. "Thank you for the financial support you have given me as an undergraduate student at Indiana University! Without your scholarship and help, I would not have been able to study abroad twice, representing IU across the world in Barcelona, Spain and Rwanda, Africa. You have enabled me to achieve such a unique, experiential education. Thank you for allowing me to become an educated, well-traveled, passionate, and active global citizen!" |
