Air Force dependent Hannah Bear was awarded a $3,000 Jackson Casey Fund/ThanksUSA scholarship to continue a Communications major at Roanoke College. Hannah has a deep interest in equality activism and plans to add a minor in Sociology.

“After completing my undergraduate degrees, I hope to attend graduate school and broaden my Communications degree. I would like to use my writing and speaking skills to help make an international change for the betterment of our world.”
A student of the Roanoke College Honors Program, Hannah is already making local activism a priority. She has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and West End Tutoring, served as an Eye to Eye Student Coordinator, and was elected Secretary of Students for Equality. Earlier this week, Hannah represented ThanksUSA scholars at the ThanksUSA Golf Tournament.

Hannah has earned quite a few honors during her past two years at Roanoke. She has been inducted into the Alpha Lambda Delta Honors Society, the Sigma Alpha Pi National Society of Leadership and Success, and the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society.

(press release)

“Thank you very much for awarding me the Jackson Casey Fund/ThanksUSA scholarship. Your support and investment in my education has meant the world to me and has allowed me to be the kind of person I have dreamed I would become.”
