Legal & General America's Charitable Giving Campaign kicked off October 23rd and was followed by two weeks of fundraising events as well as donation collection from local businesses.
LGA employees, with help from the community and their vendors, raised approximately $486,000, exceeding the $380,000 goal. Employees were able to pledge to the charity of their choice, while in-house fundraising events benefited the featured charities.
Legal & General America matched the amount raised, so in total $972,000 was donated to hundreds of different charities.

“In deciding on the featured charities for our 2017 Charity Campaign, I searched for an organization that provides needed support to our military. These men and women, by their service, ensure our freedoms and secure our way of life. By providing scholarships to the families of our military, ThanksUSA takes care of the people that are near and dear to our military heroes. Knowing more than 90% of all contributions would become scholarships and getting to the intended people was also key. It was humbling seeing how an idea in the minds of two young girls, blossomed into a national organization that has helped so many deserving people. We are privileged to be part of this and stand with ThanksUSA in supporting our military,” said John Zelinski, Vice President & Controller at LGA.
ThanksUSA had the honor of being one of the 2017 featured charities along with Heartly House. Over $68,000 in donations were split between ThanksUSA and Heartly House.

On December 12, ThanksUSA was presented with a check from L&G America for $55,000! A portion of this donation will be matched by The Kovner Foundation enabling ThanksUSA to grow and support our mission of providing scholarships and pathways to meaningful employment to military families.
ThanksUSA Co-Founder Rachel Okun and Executive Director Michele Stork were on hand to accept the check from Vice President John Zelinski.
It is with great pleasure that we announce in 2018 ThanksUSA will award 20 scholarships named “Legal & General America/ThanksUSA” to deserving military spouses and children! Without the incredibly generous donation from LGA, we would not be able to award these scholarships or change lives.
