Shortly after the 9/11 attacks, Daniel Lundberg's father was called back to active duty with the United States Marine Corps and stationed in California. Daniel fondly recalls visiting California's National Parks with his father explaining, "From Alcatraz to Zion, these pockets of reserved beauty strummed chords within me that are still humming all these years."
Daniel was awarded a $3,000 Pershing Square Foundation/ThanksUSA scholarship for his junior year of Environmental Management studies at Indiana University in Bloomington.

A student of IU's School of Public and Environmental Affairs, Daniel plans to earn his graduate degree through an accelerated Master's program. Having had the opportunity to meet with IU alumni who are working in the field of environmental science, he is considering concentrations in energy or conservation and sustainability. Ultimately, Daniel envisions a career helping businesses, communities, and governments work together in protecting our environment.
Daniel is as passionate about people as he is about the environment. From the time his father built a playground at a Russian hospital, to the hundreds of children that his mother educated as a kindergarten teacher, Daniel says that his parents have always led by example. Even when the Lundberg family experienced an especially difficult time, his father offered assistance to others by establishing a branch of Christmas in Action. "My father demonstrated to me that when you see people in need, the only proper response is to take action, regardless of the amount you have to give."
Daniel continues to take action through campus involvement and community service. He serves as a Student Ambassador and Mentor, leads Bible studies, and enjoys educating the public on conservation and sustainability issues.
"The extra financial support provided by the ThanksUSA scholarship enables me to put the needs of others before my own. I would like you to know that you have helped change not only my life, but also the lives of my family and those around me. Again, thank you for your generosity."
This holiday season, the ThanksUSA team continues to be thankful for our generous donors and sponsors. We hope you'll continue your generous support of deserving scholars like Daniel by making your tax-deductible donation today.
