Sierra Wineinger hopes to improve quality of life through nutrition. As the recipient of a $3,000 Rudy's BBQ/ThanksUSA scholarship, this Army spouse is just months away from completing a Dietetics major at Eastern Michigan University. "Upon completion of my degree, I will be eligible to sit for the Registered Examination for Dieteticians. My career goal is to work with children and parents to set a solid foundation for healthy habits at a young age." |
Currently stationed with her husband at Fort Bliss, Sierra is gaining valuable experience working with dietitians in the El Paso community. "I have had preceptors who work for the El Paso Independent School District, Hospital of Providence, William Beaumont Army Medical Center, and Vista Hills HealthCare Center. I currently have preceptors that are a private practice dietitian, a WIC dietitian, and a dietitian specializing in NICU." After completing her undergraduate degree, Sierra will sit for the Registration Examination for Dietitians. Once she becomes a Registered Dietitian, Sierra plans to work with families in creating a solid foundation for healthy habits at a young age. "I believe I would prefer to work within a school district or clinical setting for inpatient or outpatient children." |
"I cannot express enough gratitude for being awarded a ThanksUSA scholarship through Rudy's Country Store and Bar-B-Q. My schooling has taken a little longer to complete due to moving around with my husband in the military. After several years of being in school, it is exciting to see the final stretch for my degree. This scholarship has given me a boost of confidence to finish my bachelor's degree with all the strength I have left! I am honored to be one of the recipients of the Rudy's BBQ/ThanksUSA scholarship." |
