In 2008, Navy spouse Dawn Steele applied her $3,000 Intelligent Decisions Inc./ThanksUSA scholarship towards her English major at National University. For the past three years, Dawn has been an inspiring English teacher at the Options For Youth Charter School in San Bernardino, California.
Dawn in her classroom Options For Youth is a public school serving children who have not thrived in the traditional school setting. Dawn embraces the challenge of teaching her students and proudly explains, "Many of my students have graduated and are now in college or are working in the community. The satisfaction of seeing these students succeed where they have failed in the past can not be described in words."
To better serve her students, Dawn is continuing her own education through California's Clear Credential Program. The ThanksUSA team wishes Dawn and her students continued academic success...perhaps one of her students will be a future ThanksUSA scholar!
