Sarah Johnson has a calling to become a missionary and teach English. With the assistance of a $3,000 USA Funds/ThanksUSA scholarship, this proud Air Force dependent is continuing undergraduate studies at Gardner-Webb University in North Carolina.

Sarah majors in Missiology and English as a Second Language with a minor in Professional Education. "A mission trip to the small country of Moldova sparked this passion. I was involved in an English camp and fell in love with not only the children, but the method of teaching English."

This young missionary has already participated in eight foreign and four stateside missions. She served as an optometry technician in Thailand and India, assisted and prayed with the people of Haiti, and helped Moldovan children improve their English skills.

Though she has honed her Bible study and teaching skills along the way, Sarah remains committed to improving herself so that she may better serve others. She has joined the Gardner-Webb Honors Society and is applying for a summer internship with Precept Ministries International to develop discipleship and leadership skills. Sarah adds that she wants to, "Go beyond a simple 'A' in order to truly apply my education. I want to travel the world teaching and giving others the opportunity for a better life."
"I cannot begin to express my gratitude for the USA Funds/ThanksUSA scholarship. I am striving to do the very best with what I have been awarded by taking my education outside of school and into the world. Thank you so much for making that dream a possibility. No matter how hard someone is willing to work, they still need support exactly like you have given."
