High school student with a goal of attending Air Force Academy takes on physical challenge to honor military families

Cooper Feinberg, a 17-year-old entering his senior year in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, was recently accepted as a candidate to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy. Cooper is not only a top student and young leader in his community, he is an elite hockey player chosen as one of top eighteen U18 Players in Illinois by Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois.

With a goal to raise awareness of military family sacrifices, Cooper developed an idea to channel his personal strengths and his appreciation for our Veterans and their families. On Veterans Day, Cooper will complete a 75-mile skate on the Chicago Lakefront to commemorate "The Hiking 79th" Infantry Training Battalion's 75-mile hike of 1942. The skate, done on rollerblades, will be intensified with a 30-pound weighted vest to recreate the burden of a military march.

Along with this physical tribute, Cooper will be raising funds for ThanksUSA, a national non-profit that provides higher education scholarships for military spouses and children.
